Divorce is intimidating and overwhelming.

I understand.

You will never be ready. You will never want a divorce.

If you can save your marriage, do it!

But if you are getting a divorce, feel overwhelmed, and don’t know where to start, give me a call.

It’s all I do, and I do it really well.

My motto is, “Divorce without drama,” because while divorce is painful  – it doesn’t have to get ugly.

This is about your retirement, your kids, and your life.

You don’t want to “screw” your spouse, but you don’t want to be taken advantage of, either.

You know you need an attorney, but you’ve heard the horror stories of attorneys billing outrageous fees and pitting one against the other. But how do you move forward?

There’s a better way through a divorce mediator.

My ex-husband and I wanted someone that would fairly protect both of our interests. We didn’t want to argue, and we wanted things to go quickly and efficiently.

Honestly, things couldn’t have gone better or faster.

Why Choose a Mediated Divorce In Bend?

Bend is the county seat of Deschutes County, so divorces for Bend-area residents are handled by the Deschutes County Circuit Court at the Deschutes County Courthouse, 1100 NW Bond Street, Bend, OR 97703, downtown. The same court serves Redmond, Sisters, La Pine, Sunriver, Tumalo, Terrebonne, and Pronghorn. Prineville and Madras are in Crook and Jefferson counties, which have their own courts.

Residency.

If you were married in Oregon, one spouse only needs to live in Oregon when the case is filed. If you were married somewhere else, at least one spouse must have lived in Oregon for the six months before filing (ORS 107.075).

Timing.

Oregon has no mandatory waiting period for divorce. How long a case takes depends on how quickly you and your spouse reach agreement and on court processing. That’s why mediated divorces usually move much faster than litigated ones.

Parents with minor children.

Under Deschutes County’s local court rules, divorcing parents must take a parenting class. It is run through the Family Resource Center in Bend. You’ll need your circuit court case number to register, and the two parents attend separate sessions.

No trips over the Pass.

Our office is in Eugene, but our mediation sessions are held on Zoom. Bend-area couples can work through custody, support, and property division from home without driving to Eugene or sitting in a courthouse lobby.

Reduce Drama

Mediation cuts through the nonsense. We will handle everything from beginning to end. We will even go to court for you!

Get Control

In mediation, you control your custody arrangements and support obligations – not the courts.

Save Time

Court divorces usually take between 9-18 months. Mediation usually takes between 1-3 months.

Save Money

Court proceedings, on average, are 4-5 times more expensive than mediation services.

Divorce is one of the most gut-wrenching experiences anyone can endure. How do I know that? I’ve been in your shoes.

If you can save your marriage… do it! But if your circumstances require a divorce, then choose a divorce process that will respect you, respect your spouse, and protect your family. Divorce mediation is that process.

Because I’ve been through it myself, I know you need to be heard, I know you need to think, I know you need guidance, and I know (at times) you need to be pushed.

Here’s my truth…

How it works:

I will take you through a safe and secure process that is fair and respects both you and your spouse. I’ll educate, guide, and keep you on track: pulling you through the fiery pits of divorce hell until we get to the light on the other side.

Divorce is anxiety, sadness and frustration. It can feel as if everyone is against you. As a man, even thinking about going to a female divorce mediator wasn’t the plan. But I had information that Julie would be professional, skilled, non-judgmental and fair.

My experience with her was confirmed 110%. Her demeanor toward both of us made the difficult process far easier, less stressful and extremely efficient.
